Over indulgence can kill a story – even the story of Tintin. Yes. Mr. Spielberg has tried. He did his best to surpass Herge and put his own mark on the story line. He had splashed an extra layer of excitement over the plot. He had changed the appearances of the characters. As a result, Tintin seems unfamiliar, the captain looks different and most importantly, you will be able to recognize when Mr. Spielberg has stepped forward and put a touch of himself over the story.
I won’t say this is a total wastage of money. You will like it of course, if you set aside the memories of the Titin from the comic book. This movie has its’ moments of thrills and you will definitely inch closer to the edge of the seat time to time. Only, the moments of drag has dominated these exhilarating instants and soon you may steal a glance at your watch, waiting for the scene to shift.
Finally, Tintin still belongs to Herge and will remain so forever.
